WHITE - low-cost porous tooling material for vacuum
forming |
| This material has been developed by PORTEC during
the course of the FLEXIFORM-project, which was a major,
international project supported by the European Commission
and the Swiss Federal Office for Education and Science. |
| This new composite material consists of aluminium
hydroxide and a resin binder. A uniform porosity, with
pore size about 12 microns, ensures the material has
good machinability and mechanical properties, so providing
superior parts and surfaces in the formed product. |
| The total labour cost to manufacture a mould will
often be less than half that required for standard
tooling materials. |
| ProtoBlock WHITE is a hydrophobic, fire-resistant,
solvent-free material and withstands continuous temperature
exposure of 100°C. The density is 1.76 g/cm3. |
| Slab material is available ex-stock in Switzerland
in dimensions of 500 x 500 mm and with thicknesses
between 25 mm and 400 mm. |
